Uganda Airlines wet leases an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 to restore long-haul flights to London and Mumbai after two Airbus A330-800neo aircraft were withdrawn for maintenance.

Uganda Airlines has partnered with Ethiopian Airlines to wet lease a Boeing 787 aircraft for its long-haul passenger services, allowing the airline to reinstate operations to London in the United Kingdom and Mumbai in India, effective 7 March 2026.

The short-term arrangement is intended to ensure operational continuity on Uganda Airlines’ long-haul routes while maintaining network reliability and service delivery for passengers.

The decision follows the airline’s announcement on 20 February that two Airbus A330-800neo long-haul aircraft had been temporarily withdrawn from service due to unscheduled maintenance.

The airline stated that technical teams were working around the clock to source the required components and technical expertise needed to return the aircraft to service.
