Egypt and Tajikistan Sign Bilateral Air Transport Services Agreement

Egypt and Tajikistan have signed their first bilateral air transport services agreement, together with an operational memorandum of understanding.

The agreement follows consultations between the Egyptian and Tajik sides on expanding cooperation in air transport, strengthening air connectivity, and supporting travel, tourism and trade between the two countries. It also forms part of Egypt’s wider effort to expand its international aviation partnerships and strengthen its position as a regional centre for civil aviation.

The discussions focused on developing bilateral cooperation in airline services, exploring available operational opportunities, promoting training cooperation, and supporting the exchange of technical expertise.

The two sides also agreed on new operational arrangements intended to improve flexibility, support an increase in flights and seat capacity between the two countries, and create broader opportunities for cooperation between airlines on both sides.

The agreement and memorandum of understanding were initialled in Dushanbe by Sameh Fouzi, Head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and Nazaroda Habibullah, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador Tamer Hamad, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Uzbekistan and supervisor of Tajikistan, as well as representatives from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, EgyptAir, EgyptAir Cargo and Air Cairo, alongside civil aviation officials from Tajikistan.

According to Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, the agreement forms part of its strategy to update and expand bilateral air transport agreements, keep pace with developments in the airline industry, support the national economy and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional civil aviation hub.
