The authority is acting on an advisory issued by the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) on 18 August 2026, which indicated a high likelihood of adverse weather conditions including heavy rainfall, flooding, strong winds and thunderstorms. TCAA identifies airport operations, electricity supply, communication systems, road access and other critical infrastructure supporting air transport as areas where disruption could follow.

TCAA says it will continue to monitor forecasts, advisories and other information from TMA and will provide updates and guidance as further information becomes available.
