Togo and Belarus Sign Diplomatic Passport Visa Exemption Agreement

Togo and Belarus sign reciprocal visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and service passports, strengthening bilateral cooperation and institutional exchanges.

Togo and Belarus have taken steps to strengthen bilateral relations following the signing of a reciprocal visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

The agreement was signed on Monday, 2 March 2026, in Lomé by Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, Robert Dussey, and Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov during Ryzhenkov’s official visit to the country.

The visa exemption arrangement is intended to facilitate official travel between the two countries, simplify administrative procedures and support the expansion of institutional exchanges.

During the visit, the two ministers also held a working session focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across several priority sectors. Discussions included opportunities in agriculture, trade, investment and education, with both sides expressing an intention to pursue additional agreements to further structure and expand cooperation.

A memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two foreign ministries was also signed. The mechanism is designed to establish regular consultations and improve coordination on regional and international matters.
